What laughing gas feels like

Nitrous oxide is laughing gas. Your child breathes it through a small nose mask and stays awake. Your child becomes calm but can still talk. It wears off quickly when the mask comes off. Many kids feel relaxed and at ease during their visit.

Oral conscious sedation

For more anxious kids, we also offer oral conscious sedation. It is a mild medicine given as a liquid or pill to help your child relax. Your child stays awake but feels calm and comfortable. We talk with you about whether it is a good fit.

When we suggest sedation

Sedation is only recommended for children who feel anxious or need longer treatment. Many kids do fine with a calm room and gentle care. We never push it. We look at your child and talk with you about what will help them feel safe.

Your child's safety

Our team watches your child closely the whole time. We check on them often and make sure they are comfortable. You can ask us questions any time, before or during the visit.

Please arrive on time for your child's visit. Ask us any questions before we start. We explain each step in kid friendly words, so your child knows what to expect and feels ready.
